Seymour Fliegel

Mr. Seymour Fliegel is the author of the book, Miracle in East Harlem. It is the story of how Mr. Fliegel took the lowest performing school in New York City’s public school system and turned it into a model school. He currently heads the Center for Educational Innovation. Mr. Fliegel has twice been invited to the White House to be honored for his work in public education.

Mahen Bonetti

Connie Shabbaz

Dr. Connie Shabbaz is a medical doctor. She also has an MBA and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Dr. Shabbaz and her husband ran a program entitled Books for Africa. They were involved in collecting thousands of books that were distributed throughout South Africa. She is currently involved in getting books to children in inner city Chicago. Maya Angelou recently interviewed Dr. Shabbaz on Oprah Winfrey’s satellite radio network, Oprah and Friends.
